COORDINATOR FOR NESSL RELATIONS:
SELECT is a separate Program from the Recreational Program with a separate Registration. There are NO TRYOUTS, but a First come / First Serve. If a team is full you will have to wait for a Coach and athletes to form another Team.
SELECT is a more competitive, introductory to travel league. Athletes have the possibility to be entered into 1 tournament each season against other clubs. They will get games throughout the season against the other clubs here in the Allen County area.
Athletes will need to register for a House Rec team and practice with that Coach/team each week through the season. We divide the SELECT athletes up onto House Rec teams so they challenge each other in Rec games, if they have a SELECT tournament or game in conflict with their Rec Saturday games, their House Rec team will still be able to have the game without them.
They will also register separately for the SELECT team, once a volunteer Coach is assigned and enough athletes are interested they will practice with that Coach/team each week. All Huntertown Soccer athletes have the option to attend the Academy Practice each week. SELECT athletes are highly recommended to attend Academy practice each week. Therefore, a SELECT athlete will have 3 practices per week and potentially 2 games per week.
SELECT teams are encouraged to stay together each season and are given options to play as a team in off season events at their own cost. House Rec athletes are Randomized on to teams in the Fall season, but also in the Spring depending on registration of returning/new athletes.
Time vs Money commitment, base registration for SELECT is $35, not including registration for the House Recreational program, $65. However, we ask our SELECT families to Fundraise for the Club. We want both the athletes and parents to be committed to the team! Therefore, we ask for a Time commitment of the family and the athlete. Depending how well the Fundraising goes will determine the supplement of development training in the off season for the team or entering more than 1 tournament in a season. We ask for a flexibility of Time for practices and games! Athletes and Coaches are not Contracted with Huntertown Soccer, it takes the team (Coach, parents & athlete) to work their schedules out together to make practices and games successful, but athletes and coaches are not penalized for missing either practice or game, and parents maybe asked to fill in for a practice or game for their Coach that has prior commitments or they will be canceled. Again, we ask for a Time Commitment, if you or your athlete are not able to commit time to the team then our SELECT Program is not the appropriate program for you.
Academy Style Practices
One main Coach directing other coaches and athletes in practice working on individual skills.
U5-U6 have Academy Style Practices Saturday Mornings prior to their game.
U8-U14 may attend an OPTIONAL Academy Style Practice on Monday from 6-7PM. Registration for this is FREE and is on the "Sign Up" tab.
Rec, SELECT and Academy Practices
Athletes will automatically have a House Rec Coach practices and Optional Academy practice by a different Coach, then to challenge them even more ask us about our SELECT program that will give them one more practice a week by another coach. Therefore with SELECT your athlete could have up to 3 practices per week.
Coach's Academy & Coaches Corner
Our Volunteer coaches can add to their Coaches toolbox by attending and helping out at the Academy practices. Also, suggested content and information for each of our coaches is shared on the Coaches Corner tab. Parents new to coaching soccer can quickly learn the game of Soccer through our helpful and caring Coaching staff and methods.

Athletes our Randomized on to volunteer Coach's teams, from 3yo-13yo (U5-U14)before the Fall Season. We use the NEW CALENDAR/BIRTH YEAR age grouping. (In example, for the Fall 2016 through Spring of 2017 an athletes birth year of 2012 is a U5 age division, a birth year of 2007 is a U10 age division, a birth year of 2002 is a U15 age division). Age divisions go from Fall 2016-Spring 2017, the Formula rather Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 use 2017 minus Birth Year equals Age Division.
(ie. 2017 - 2004 = U13) For Fall 2017 the Formula will be 2018 minus Birth Year equals Age Division.
Depending on how many athlete register will dictate the grouping of the age divisions and if we will have Coed or Girls divisions or if we will have to Combine Age Divisions. This is the same for Age 13-18yo, as this age division is the toughest to fill we combine U15-U18. If more older athletes registered, then we would be able to combine the younger athletes with more appropriate age groupings.
There is a NO REFUND policy, as we incur fees for each athlete at the moment of the ONLINE registration.

The Soccer Youth Program was established in 1981 by a few families with the help of the men and women of Huntertown Lions Club. In the 35 years the program started as a hand full of teams that played against each other that grew to the recreational league it is today.
The program has been cared for and exchanged many hands that have always looked out for the best interest of the athletes and the community. These volunteer coaches and board members from the community are what have kept this Recreational League going through the years.
"Try to do the right thing:
It's not the act of doing the absolute right thing, this is WAR, as if it were an acronym (We Are Right)!
But what is right should need adjustments, allow for changes and is not absolute!
Therefore, 'try to do the right thing' is what should be judged as just and true. Volunteer to try to do the right thing, you cannot fail if you keep trying, adjusting and you will always be successful at trying to do the right thing!"
